Last time I showed you one of the eccentric things that Georges Perec does in his massive book "La Vida instrucciones de uso."
But there's plenty more of his obsessions in there ..and one of them is lists.
He cannot resist a list. Here's one of the obvious ones to be found in there .... this is about various "relojes" owned by " Marcia" .....
- dos bailarinas españolas; una de la hora con sus brazos agitando las castañuelas, la otra da los segundos bajando un abanico ;
- un payaso atlético, sobre una especie de potro de gimnasio, se contorsiona de modo que sus piernas inflexiblemente tensas señalan las horas, mientras su cabeza se agita cada segundo;
- dos soldados, uno emite señales de semáforo ( horas) y el otro, arma al hombro, saluda militarmente cada segundo;
- una cabeza de hombre cuyos largos y finos bigotes son las manecillas del reloj ; los ojos marcan los segundos desplazándose de derecha a izquierda y de izquierda a derecha.

Now let's face it folks, he didn't need to go into all that detail !!
But on the other hand, he could have told us a lot more.
What about the soldier's uniforms ?
We could do with a much more detailed description of the various cabejas, piernas etc.
And what about that "bigote ?" ... what colour was it, was it waxed ?.... it could all go on for pages and pages.
And with many of his other lists, it does.
So think yourself lucky !
Now here's Santi Balmas and a fine acoustic version of " Los colores de una sombra " .....
