The only problem is, now I've told you about 13, Rue del Percibe it will put the price of them up on Amazon. Grrr. + ¡ Maldita sea !
Here's a selection of cartoons from the amazing Spanish comic " 13, Rue de Percebe" ..... based around the goings-on in a massive apartment block. It's all totally ridiculous of course ,,, but that's what we want ! 13, Rue de Percebe is a brilliant Spanish cartoon series Well, I think you've got the general idea now.
The only problem is, now I've told you about 13, Rue del Percibe it will put the price of them up on Amazon. Grrr. + ¡ Maldita sea !

Laura has not done her Spanish homework , so she has to write out all the Spanish numbers from 1 to 100 ... but ..and here's the tough bit ... she's got to put them in alphabetical order ! So ,for a start, "uno" will certainly not be the first number she writes down. And, of course, "cien" won't be last. Think about it ! [a] What will be the first number on her list ? [b] What will be the 12th ? [c] What will be the last ? [d] What will be the one before the final number ? [e] What will be the 50th one? [ that's the hardest bit !] ..and now, to soothe the seething brain, it's Amaral and El universo sobre mi Sólo queda una vela
Where would you find the first 12 numbers sequenced like that ? It's a good question ..... rather intriguing. Next time I'm going to take the idea bit further. And now the music selection is Morgan ... Here's another one of those posts where I look at a Spanish text and compare ( and contrast) it with the English version .... this time it's "La Tabla de Flandes" by Arturo Pérez-Reverte" ..... "The Flanders Panel" in English. I tend to pick out bits that might be tricky to translate ..... and I'm going to have a new format where I show you the Spanish version .... and ask you to render it into English..... and later I'll show you what the "official" translator made of it. Exciting, eh !! ¡Hala ! [g] ¿ Llevar me a Max ? No, gracias. Prefiero arruinarme sola. So .... here's the English version of those sentences .... I hope you've been honest and done your own translation first ........ these are what the "translator-into-English" made of them in this book .... [a] Reconoce que es una bellaza .
.... You've got to admit he's a beauty. ..... You've hit the jackpot and you don't even realise it. .... but I have a soft spot for low-lifers, and I like Alfonso . ...... that's why she gave me that look, the rotten cow. [e] Explícate, hija. Me tienes en ascuas. Go on . I'm on tenterhooks. You know, Agatha Christie could have made a blockbuster out of this. [g] ¿ Llevar me a Max ? No, gracias. Prefiero arruinarme sola. .... Install Max in my apartment? No thanks. I'd rather go to rack and ruin on my own. A little while ago I showed you lots of lovely but ancient illustrations from a lovely but ancient copy of Guillermo el Genial. They're on the end of these links if you want to take a look .... and you really should you know ... -351-profetas-de-la-manana.html and here's the second sample .. -353-more-pictures-from-guillermo-el-genial.html Now I have unearthed my slightly less ancient copy of Guillermo el Superhombre .... I bought it a few years ago from a smashing 2nd-hand bookshop in Belfast for a stinging 50p !! An absolute bargain.... and the pictures are still very old-fashioned, but compared to the "genial" ones they are a lot sharper ... I don't really know what they've done to them to do that. If you're around the University quarter of Belfast, you can drop in, and even have a cup of coffee inside or out. Recommended. And I've done the same thing as before ... I've put lots of the illustrations .. plus of course their Spanish captions .. on here, the idea being that [a] you translate them... that's the important bit really ... [b] you become a big fan of the William books. [c] you might speculate as to what the hell these people are up to ... (!) [d] you can admire the hats the women wear. [e] you can be amazed that William wears his school uniform in his own time. What ? Well, I hope you found that interesting .... but now it's music time ...... El sueño de Morfeo .. " Ven"..... The start sequence reminds me of the end bit of this ... |
