¡¡ Me gusta !!
Grrr ! I can only find 29 Spanish words beginning with ñ and none of them are ñac. That's in the biggest Spanish dictionary in the world. Well, I think it is. I was in Llandudno looking for Welsh books and this massive, humungous Spanish dictionary was in the "bargain bin" outside ...50p!! Reader, I bought it. The downside was, I had to lug it around Llandudno for the next 1½ hours because the Significant Otter had the car keys. It got strangely heavier as time dragged on. Back to ñac ... could it be a word with ñac inside it that's had bits chopped off it ? It's even more annoying that I cant find my only Spanish slang book ... it's in the house somewhere. Am I missing something obvious ? It has happened. ...... and here's another thing ..... and another version of this other thing .. Is it Buenos Días / mnsdía ? The "b" and "m" sounds are very closely related production-wise. Just try whispering them quietly and quickly buh-muh-buh-muh-buh-muh-buh-muh ... and you'll see what I mean. As for the ñ, who knows ? It looks like it was very early in the morning, maybe they're still in mumbling/bumbling/stumbling mode. So .. I'm sure some of you will be able to tell me what a twerp I am .... comments welcome, or email [email protected] ... or see sidebar ! But now, it's music time ... it's that Carlos Sadness again and "Siempre Esperandote" ... I bet you're all desperate to know what those 29 ñ-words were .... and it's your lucky day ... and they're all so useful too. Well, I suppose I might use ñaque/ñiquiñaque whilst I am looking for that slang book.
ñiquiñaque ... where on earth can that have come from? Or maybe it was the other way round ? (Not that I have a clue who on earth Jessie Ware is. ) Reading today's i newspaper, I got to the "latest top releases" or whatever it's called, and in amongst them was a song by Jessie Ware ( Selfish Love) which has been translated into Spanish as " Egoísta." So, hot from the presses, here it is ... with the words as well .. què bonita ! Not that I'm going for the youth market here of course.
What are these ? I've put them more or less in size order for you ... loronco zorrollizo pulpoltron moscastiza cabraquitico mariposadía hormigarboso lombrizquierda golondrinaudito saltamontestarudo While you are sorting that out, here's a genuine " Simple Stuff" version of " Las Malas Lenguas" for you. .. and here's a "words" video as well... Here's some comments about a Spanish song ... .. so who are they, and which song is it ? For those that are familiar with them, it's obvious if you know some of the lyrics ..... ¿Cómo voy a continuar? ¿Cómo voy a continuar? 😞 I'm sure you've had no difficulty at all working that out ! And what amazing and interesting comments they are... And that's only a tiny chunk of them. But now, something completely different ... Molinette Cinema + "Bicicleta" ... Quiero subirme a tu bicicleta
I thought these clips of Spanish footy commentaries would just be a bit of a laugh, but actually, they're very good ... and you get to learn to count the goals, which is, of course, important. You also might notice some English creeping in here and there ... and if you don't like footy, it doesn't matter ... just enjoy the commentary .... Hey... there's all sorts of other sports I could put on here ... I'll investigate. But now, here's Futurista and " Cuéntame más" .... a reasonable request I suppose ....
Crumbs ... that's a good start ! It's the first story in a collection written by Gabriel García Marquez ..it's cunningly entitled .. "Un señor muy viejo con unas alas enormes" That title does take away the surprise start a bit. But I suppose he knew what he was doing. In my copy it's only about 10 pages long.. or short, depending on your point of view. It's well worth reading .. Terrific For Your Spanish , of course, and written by a famous author. Win-win. While you're giving it a think, here's LOL at their usual singing lark again .... Here's that collection ....
Well, that came out of the "Teacher's book" that goes with the "Al Tanto" Spanish course ... but unfortunately, I've no idea what the "task" was for which that was the introduction/ worksheet/ answer because I can't find my copy of the actual book .. it's somewhere amidst all the other stuff. ..... I'm assuming it was something like ... " here's a set of simple cartoon faces showing various emotions/character traits .... now do some more of your own." Maybe that blank bit at the end was for them to do that very thing. Very likely. So while you try to think some up, here's " Learn Spanish in 88 Years Band of the Week" Miss Caffeina and the excellent " Detroit" .... Sitting in the car the other day, waiting for the Significant Otter's train to arrive, I pulled out a couple of books to read. The car is full of books .... as well as being a form of insulation, they're handy for those odd moments. At my advanced age, there's no time to waste! They were the same book really ... Y Gwrachod ( The Witches) and Las Brujas ( The Witches). By Roald Dahl and Roald Dahl. I read them side by side for a bit until she arrived, the same chapter, Welsh and Spanish. It's always fascinating doing that, whether it's English/Welsh, Spanish/French, Spanish/Welsh ...your brain is having to switch tracks from second to second as you compare the sentences, the way they're structured, the way the same thing is phrased in the different languages, looking for similarities and differences. Very absorbing. And then looking in the paper that she had brought from Hull, City of Culture, there was an article about how knowing two languages can stave off (an odd usage that) the onset of dementia .... and apparently a lot of that is due to the constant "switching" that the brain has to do .. a bit like changing channels on the TV, or wavebands on the radio. This effect of making the brain switch between different modes is highly beneficial., according to the latest research. Mind you, science doesn't always get things right. But it sounds like it ought to be good, making the brain change out of its normal mode and jump to a new tracks. We all want it to be true, us lot ! y Here's your music for today ... Prehistóricos .. " Dos planetas" con letra. |
