As far as we are concerned, it's generally a matter of saying what you need to say using the language skills you've got right now.... not the ones you wished you had, or that you knew two weeks ago but have now forgotten.
For example, suppose in English you would say " It's blowing a gale out there" you might find it a lot simpler to say " The wind is strong."
Or if what you are thinking is " It was like a madhouse at the office today" it would be a lot simpler to say " It was busy at work today."
You can even strip things right down ... in many sentences a lot of the information isn't exactly urgent or important ..
"You can ask me 1000 times, it's really really not going to happen in your dreams or anywhere else, so you can just totally completely and utterly forget it, pigface !
Simplified, easily-turned-into-Spanish version .. "¡ No !"
So.... putting a second's thought into saying things more simply can take the stress out of talking in Spanish. But.... doing this does not necessarily come naturally ... for most people they will hardly ever do this ... unless they are perhaps a teacher or a doctor ... because they are speaking in their first language.
Try making these sentences simple enough so that you can say them easily in Spanish ... and remember, you don't have to get every last scrap of information across ... just the bits that really matter right now.
It took me ages and ages to make my way home.
The fridge is stuffed to the gills with all sorts of rubbish.
There's no way I'm going anywhere anytime with that creepy git !
Look, sorry, I've got no idea where I am and I need to get to the nearest McDonald's.
He's completely out of order saying such a hurtful thing to my mother !
Robin is a very strange driver, I don't fancy going anywhere with him again.
I was pretty much scared totally bloody witless !
Even running as hard as I could I had no chance of catching that stupid dog .
I've never ever seen anyone drink so much alcohol in one tiny advert break !
Do you know, I'm sick to the back teeth of you going on and on about your girlfriend.
I tried my very very best but the questions were just horrible and I didn't even finish.
I'll tell you what, my brain, or what's left of it, was literally all over the place .
Sue can play the xylophone, guitar, saxophone, drums and all sorts of keyboards !
Obviously these sort of simplifications will become less and less necessary as your fluency grows ... in fact it's a sort of measure of your progress in a way.
Well, that's my handy hint for the day .... let's move on to a musical moment or two with Beth ( Rodergas ) and Estás ....
