There's the " they've got to listen to real, full-speed Spanish right from the start ...if they don't, they'll never get it !" people.
And ....
There's the .." better start off slowly and then gradually speed up .. if they don't, they'll never get it !" people.
But ..{a}..... surely by now somebody would have actually worked out which is the truth.
But ...{b}.... as far as I know, they haven't.
As I hope you all realise, I'm just a lowly learner of Spanish like many of you. I'll admit that that up there was terribly fast ! I understood quite a bit of it, but I didn't understand quite a bit of it as well. Certainly, if there were things in there to be misunderstood, i could well have misunderstood them...if you see what I mean.
Surely the right approach to the "fast or slow" debate is to do whatever suits you .... it seems obvious to me that some, let's say "reluctant" learners would prefer to start off with the slow stuff. That fast stuff up there might send them running into the hills never to return. Those with more natural talent for language-learning might relish jumping into the deep end....
Do any of you out there have opinions about this .... or maybe actual experience of either approach ? There is a comment box if any of you would like to tell me/us about it ... and I must get around to setting up a email address for this blog. I'll do it. Meanwhile, here's Soda Stereo with " Entre Caníbales" .... not exactly unplugged though ...
esperé este instante
y no lo dejaré deslizar
en recuerdos quietos
ni en balas rasantes
que matan...
Ah... come de mi, come de mi carne
ah... entre caníbales
ah... tomate el tiempo en desmenuzarme
ah... entre caníbales
Entre caníbales
el dolor es veneno, nena
y no lo sentirás hasta el fin.
mientras te muevas lento
y jadees el nombre
que mata...
Ah... come de mi, come de mi carne
ah... entre caníbales
ah... tomate el tiempo en desmenuzarme
ah... entre caníbales
Una eternidad
espere este instante...
