Here's something I didn't know ..... leafing through my battered copy of John Butt's cleverly titled " Spanish Grammar" I noticed on p 93 that nouns ending in a stressed vowel are masculine ..and he kindly gives us 4 examples ....
el Canadá
el bisturí
el tisú
el sofá
Well well ... but is this actually worth knowing ?
How many Spanish nouns end in a stressed vowel ?
I don't know !
There's "el bebé" of course, and, er ...... el café
I've run out of ideas now. But I've found two more you'll be using all the time ..
el jabalí = wild boar
el plató = a set ( as in a film set) but the "o" would give you a fair old clue anyway.
I'm going to have to find some more now .. I'm hooked !
I'll report back later on that one.
