It's very interesting to try other "versions" of the rules. For example. there's a version called " Clabbers" where you can, if you wish, put down your word with the letters in the wrong order, as an anagram if you like.
So if you had the word " perro" for example, you could lay down the letters as " rpore" or
"porer" or "eoprr" .
But why would you want to do that ? Well, you will see in this little bit of a game.....Alan has gone first, and has put down FAGSA it's actually GAFAS of course, but he's done it that way so the F can go on the double-letter square.... I nudged the F over a bit so you can see it. That means more points! Result !! He get 13 x 2 = 26 points .
Then Alan cleverly put an S on the bottom of TOZE to make it an anagram of ZOTES, and at the same time made SOCORRO onto the triple-word square on the right edge of the board !!
That's 23 x 3 = 69 plus the points for ZOTES as well ( 14) = 83. Ouch ! Because he can stick the RR ( 8 points) on the double-letter square it really boosts the score. Already you can see some of the amazing things you can do with this form of Scrabble.
Now look down at the next move by Alan ... he's turned AJORCA ( a bracelet) into JAORCA to get both the J and the C on a triple, scoring 24 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 9 + 1 = 37 !!!
More variations on Scrabble to come.... !
I seem to remember I put this on here somewhere ages ago ... it's Nena Daconte and "Son Niños " ...
