For just one day, pretend that your go-to Spanish dictionary has no English to Spanish section ... just Spanish-to-English!
What this means, in effect, is that when if you don't know the Spanish word for, say, a kettle, you can't just run to the dictionary and look it up ... the English-to-Spanish side isn't there!
So ... what can you do ?
◘ You could try hard to remember what the Spanish word for "kettle" was... then look it up and see if you were right.
◘ You could try to work out what it might be and then look it up to see if you are right.
◘ You could find a way to get across the idea of a kettle using Spanish words that you DO know ...
◘ You could think up something that do know the Spanish for which is like a kettle and say " es como una caldera pequeña " or whatever.
◘ You could say it's the opposite of something ... a fridge perhaps. Assuming you know how to say "the opposite of" in Spanish of course.
What I'm saying here is, this is an important skill .. to be able to deal with not knowing a word, and getting round it in some way ..
Now, here's Los Planetas with the extraordinary " db" and it's got the words up there ... lucky you ...
