Here's another really clever section in that "Uuk y Gluk" book I wrote about last time ( go back one if you want to have a look) .
Our two heroes are being pursued by two henchmen with some sort of raygun ... first they hide behind a huge roadside placard saying ..
¡ NO COMAN EN SU CASA !
¡ Donde TOM se come BIEN " ( Tom is a cartoon chef plus cartoon chef's hat)
¡ No pararán de comer !
¡ Nuestra comida es brutalmente buena !
Needless to say, the two henchmen fire their rayguns at the billboard, destroying a big jagged chunk out of the right-hand side. This leaves the brilliant message ...
¡ No coman en
¡ Donde TOM se
¡ No come
¡ Nuestra comida es brutal
Smashing !! That's neat. But that's not all ... They run some more, and hide behind another giant billboard .... there's a little girl on it holding glass of something .. the speech bubble says ...
Bebo delisioso
jugo de mansanas
sureñas de la empresa
DORITA
Out come the rayguns again, blasting away yet another great jagged chunk out of the right-hand side of the billboard, leaving ....
Bebo
jugo de
su
DOR
Excellent ! Lovely stuff ! you won't forget what "sudor" means in a hurry after that.
But ... but ... that's not all .... again they are on the run, and again they hide behind ...well, you know ... and on this one is a picture of a bloke in a sort of hot-tub or whatever... and his speech bubble says ....( I'm laughing like a drain just typing it out !)
Gracias a Bob
Por fin tengo piscina.
me remojo en verano
en mi piscino
Y soy feliz con mi familia.
Well, yet again the rayguns blast away a great toothy chunk from the right-hand side leaving
Gracias a Bob
Por fin
me remojo
en mi pis
Y soy feliz
Unfortunately a kind person helps them hide away and there are no more billboards. Bah !
Still ... it was great while it lasted. I remember that occasionally similar sorts of things were done on the Simpsons ... there was one episode where they were abducted by aliens and there was a cookery book covered in dust ...and as chunks of dust blew away the title changed several times as new letters and words were revealed. Clever stuff ! I can't search through all the episodes as there are more than 500 of them. Any idea anybody?
I'm going to try to make some of my own .... and not just in Spanish either ... actually it might be a good idea to try some English ones first to get the hang of it, and then branch out ... besides Spanish, Welsh and French are going to be tried .. go on folks, try it yourself ... it would be brilliant to have some more to put on here.
I have christened this little task " The Billboard Challenge" for obvious reasons.
Music now.... it's Los planetas with "La Playa" and I chose it for a strange reason ... we were talking about "notices" up there, and there's a well-known trick with a notice by a swimming pool which says ...
NOW NO SWIMS ON MON
which is more or less the same when turned upside-down !
That's a neat trick if you can do it
